R3ciprocity Help Center

R3ciprocity is a gamified scientific discovery and signal detection platform that trains people to spot high potential ideas early, when evidence is thin and uncertainty is high. Scientific progress depends on judgment under ambiguity, yet most researchers and research teams learn signal detection informally through slow apprenticeship, uneven mentorship, and delayed feedback. R3ciprocity turns discovery into a structured prediction system.

Users compare real research signals, such as abstracts and idea statements, and make choices about which work is stronger and why. Those choices form a discovery portfolio that is tracked over time using market benchmarks and outcome signals such as citation growth. The platform then provides feedback that helps users calibrate what they notice, reduce bias, and improve their predictive accuracy. Clustering and group functions reveal shared blind spots and accelerate collective learning. A tone checker and structured writing tools help users communicate claims with clear, credible confidence rather than hype or defensiveness.

R3ciprocity also fights boredom, isolation, and motivation decay by using game mechanics, streaks, and visible progress to sustain engagement across long research cycles. For investors and funding agencies, it is scalable behavioral infrastructure that strengthens research capacity, broadens participation, and improves discovery decisions in strategic research and development settings.

This page documents both: (1) current research-platform features and (2) still-active writer/editor workflows such as document upload, review queues, readability, sentiment, and plagiarism tools.

2. Core Purpose and Philosophy

R3ciprocity is designed to make research less scary and less ambiguous by turning large goals into small, trackable actions and feedback loops.

  • Make research manageable.
  • Break large projects into daily actions.
  • Train judgment, not just grammar correction.
  • Use game mechanics for sustained engagement.
  • Keep progress visible at all times.
Contribution Clarity: how quickly a reader can understand what is new, why it matters, and how it advances knowledge.

3. 15-Minute Deliberate Practice Loop

Daily Calibration Loop: a reciprocal learning system where you practice small daily actions, evaluate research signals, and rapidly update your judgment through feedback.

R3ciprocity is designed so you can use the platform for about 15 minutes per day, for free, and build research capability through repetition, exposure, and fast feedback.

  1. Write 4 short sentences per day (about 15 words each) for 120 days, producing roughly 7,200 words (about a full paper draft).
  2. Review high volumes of research titles and abstracts through repeated comparisons to build deep pattern recognition of strong vs weak signals.
  3. Receive quantitative feedback in hours or days rather than waiting weeks or months, so you can learn without reputational risk.
  4. Generate a large portfolio of abstract ideas over time (for many users, this is around 120 ideas in 4 months of daily use).
  5. Identify your research interests more clearly and quantitatively through your repeated choices.

The theory is deliberate practice with tight feedback loops: repeated action plus fast, visible feedback improves calibration between beliefs, actions, and outcomes (Ericsson et al., 1993; Sterman, 1989).

Why this matters for institutions and teams: persistent learning-by-doing and continuous improvement are associated with measurable productivity gains in organizations (Gallup, 2020; Bloom, Sadun, & Van Reenen, 2019).

4. Abstract Comparison Engine

The abstract engine is not just a voting widget. It is a judgment calibration system backed by your selection history.

How it works

  1. Compare abstracts side-by-side.
  2. Select the stronger signal.
  3. Store your result history.
  4. Use that history to build ranking and taste-profile outputs.

Where to see this in the app

  • Play for abstract and streak activities.
  • Open Research Taste Profile to view your pattern data and ranking outputs.

Research Taste Profile views

  • My Taste Map: a topic hierarchy (domain -> field -> subfield) built from abstracts you selected as winners. This shows where your research attention is concentrated.
  • My Abstracts: your own submitted abstracts, with rank feedback across three lenses: Community Favorites, Hidden Gems, and Breakout Ideas.
  • Swipe Personality: your behavior badges and progress. Current badge families include Accuracy Seeker, Explorer, Consistency Hunter, Active Swiper, and Abstract Master.
  • Abstract Ranking Top 10: global top abstract lists generated from platform activity, filterable by ranking type.

Ranking categories (what they mean)

  • Community Favorites: ranked by total wins. This highlights abstracts that are repeatedly selected by users.
  • Hidden Gems: ranked by win rate (wins divided by times shown). This highlights abstracts that perform strongly when seen, even if shown less often.
  • Breakout Ideas: ranked by recent momentum (wins in recent activity windows). This highlights abstracts gaining traction now.
Practical use: compare your own abstract performance against all three views. If you score high in one view but low in others, that usually reveals a positioning gap (broad appeal vs precision vs momentum).

5. Research Portfolio Analytics

Research Portfolio: the set of abstracts you select, tracked over time to evaluate predictive quality and preference patterns.
Pick Success Rate: the proportion of your selections that outperform their paired alternative in citation growth.
Citation Growth Chart: compares average citation growth of your picks against market baseline trend.
Research Market: aggregate comparative baseline from tracked abstract performance in a given time window.
Consistency Index: stability of your predictive performance across repeated activity windows.

Why market comparison matters

  • Absolute performance can be misleading without a benchmark.
  • Relative performance shows whether your calibration is improving.
  • Divergence from market trend helps detect systematic selection bias.
Citation-based indicators are comparative signals, not absolute truth. Different fields accumulate citations at different speeds.

6. Daily Streaks, Points, Badges, and Milestones

Research Streak: number of consecutive days with a meaningful logged research action.
Milestone Tracking: project progress broken into measurable stages so progress is visible.

Valid streak actions (examples)

  • Write 100 words.
  • Edit one paragraph.
  • Read one paper.
  • Refine one hypothesis.
  • Improve one figure.

How scoring behavior works

  • Valid actions accumulate points/milestones.
  • Badges represent sustained behavior and achievements.
  • Breaking a streak resets consecutive count.
  • Breaking a streak does not erase total historical progress.

Why this matters: consistency beats intensity in long-horizon research systems.

7. Dashboard and Progress Signals

Key recurring signals include streak, milestones, badges, ranking behavior, and trend performance.

Am I consistent?

Use day and streak continuity metrics.

Am I improving?

Use pick-performance and trend divergence indicators.

Am I above benchmark?

Use market-relative comparisons.

Is my judgment sharpening?

Use repeat-cycle accuracy and consistency signals.

8. Writing and Document Intelligence Tools

R3ciprocity still includes strong document workflow and writing intelligence features. Open My Documents and Analytics for these capabilities.

Available tools in codebase

  • Readability analysis (Flesch-style ease signals).
  • Sentiment / Tone analysis with positive, negative, neutral, and mixed percentages.
  • Plagiarism reports (CopyLeaks integration flows).
  • Topic clustering requests for document-level clustering.
  • Cumulative word analytics over time.
  • Grammar and related review support tools in document workflow.
Tone Checker: structured analysis of rhetorical balance in writing, including confidence vs hedging signals, without rewriting your ideas for you.
Tone Balance: clear and credible language without exaggeration or defensive over-hedging.

9. Groups, Clustering, and Team Learning

The platform supports multi-user research groups and document clustering workflows. Use Groups to create, join, manage, and collaborate.

Clustering: grouping documents, abstracts, or user behavior patterns by structural similarity so blind spots and concentrations become visible.
Group Performance: aggregate behavior and outcome signals across members of a defined group.
Team Learning: collective improvement in judgment through shared structured exposure and comparison.

Why this matters

  • Reduces individual blind spots.
  • Improves calibration through disagreement and comparison.
  • Supports distributed mentoring in labs and departments.

10. Human Feedback Workflow (Core and Evolving)

Human review is an important part of R3ciprocity. The platform includes automated and gamified learning systems, but if you need real human feedback on your writing, you can get it through the writer/editor workflow. This layer is actively evolving with development and remains a core part of the overall platform.

How this fits: use Play/analytics for calibration and pattern learning, then use human review when you need contextual judgment, nuanced comments, and practical revision guidance.

For writers

  • Upload documents in My Documents.
  • Run readability, sentiment/tone, and plagiarism checks before requesting human review.
  • Send your document into the review queue for editor feedback.
  • Review returned edits/comments and apply revisions in your original draft.
